The dancefloor was never a stage.
It was a sanctuary. Ours.
We built it with sweat, faith, and music that
found us when nothing else could.
OFFMODE is a collective of music-lovers and individuals across the electronic music industry, within Europe and Australia committed to returning the underground to its roots. No spectacle. No content. Just the room, the sound, and the people willing to lose themselves in it.
"The first time I went to a phone-free event I actually felt nervous without my phone. By midnight I realised I'd been dancing for three hours straight and hadn't thought about it once. Something changed mentally."
Clubber, 25 year old — Melbourne“Coming from my generation, you expect phones everywhere, but when the room locks in, the energy is unreal. You can feel every single person connected.”
Club promoter — Valencia"When I see a phone screen in the first row, my energy changes. I'm suddenly performing instead of playing. Phone-free parties feel like the early days again — I play differently, better."
Resident DJ — Brisbane underground"Whenever I play a phone-free party, I know the energy will be out of control. The crowd is there for music, not content. That's everything. That’s Berlin."
International Artist — BerlinEvery phone gets covered, front and back, in bold coloured stickers at the door. It's simple, it's effective, and it's instant: no camera, no distraction, just a room full of people actually enjoying the music. Speak up if you spot un-covered phones inside, by staff and fellow dancers.
Venue’s role / In-venueA small sticker for phones at the door, with a friendly welcome to the night's shared way of doing things. Add a QR code for post-party vibes at home, to showcase where the official photos will be for memorable moments in HD.
Venue’s role / In-venueJoin a growing network of music industry professionals across Europe and Australia signing on to the same set of values. Shared standards. Shared training. Shared support. Shared community. Everyone pulling together for a better experience. All without needing a major label or a big brand name behind it — everyone's stronger pulling in the same direction.
Industry CommunityBring your own phone pouch, or use one at the venue if they've got it. Lock your phone away for the night and step fully into the room. Be present with friends and the music — just a clean break from the screen.
Your role / In-VenueSet up a "Party Mode" on your iPhone before you head out. Let only your closest people reach you, with everything else muted. You're reachable if it really matters, minus the scrolling, the pings, and the itch to check.
Your role / Pre-partyComing soon: intimate record-listening nights, panels, and DJ/dancer mixers where the history and values of the culture get passed down before anyone hits the floor. Think real conversation over group chats, real talk about the scene, and connection with the people who came before you.
Your CommunityField notes, voices, and coalition updates from EU and AU promoters, DJs, and dancers. Delivered straight to your inbox — never your feed.
OFFMODE is open to any promoter, venue, DJ, or dancer who believes the dancefloor is worth protecting. Sign the charter. Add the tag to your events. Bring your city into the coalition.
The floor doesn't belong to the internet. It belongs to the people standing on it.
